Our Physical Education Programme encourages the enjoyment of active living, movement skills, social play, and participation. As students progress through the years, the programme continues to enhance and implement new concepts of personal fitness, sports skills, wellness and healthy living. This sport and wellness element aims to boost emotional and social well-being, improving physical fitness and encourage goal setting, teamwork and the chance to develop leadership skills.
SMS promotes the importance of participating in team sports. This encourages a sense of teamwork, healthy competition, and leadership which can be applied in all areas of life. In addition to the core Physical and Health Education programme, our students participate in a wide variety of athletic activities both within the school community and in competition with other schools.
Students in Grade 3-8 have the opportunity to participate in local inter-school competition through the Waterloo Catholic District School Board Athletics Association in sports including: volleyball, badminton, cross country and track and field.
