Stimulating and nurturing each child’s natural curiosity and love for learning within a Montessori environment is at the core of our approach to education. As a community of children, educators and families, our goal is to enable children to reach their full potential at every stage of development.
Our programme features student-centered, multi-age classrooms that emphasize an inquiry-based model of learning. As they progress through the years, students are empowered to take increasing responsibility for their learning and to engage in purposeful exploration. Expanded academic challenges and expectations, and a focus on leadership and community responsibility, result in an education that prepares students for the complex and ever-changing academic and social challenges ahead.
At SMS, the programme begins at the Toddler level and is followed by the Prima Casa and Casa programmes which consist of a three-year cycle of learning for children between the ages of two and a half and six. The Elementary Montessori and Junior High programmes are divided into three further multi-age groupings for students six through 14 years of age.
Our Grade 8 students are well-prepared for high school and upon graduation, move on to a variety of secondary school settings including: International Baccalaureate (IB), private and public schools.
